Library Englischer Garten closed from 04 August to 28 September 2025
04.08.2025
During the summer, a large portion of the collection in the Subject Library Englischer Garten will be reorganized according to a standardized shelving system: the Regensburg Classification Scheme (RVK). The collection will receive new call number labels and must be reshelved accordingly. Unfortunately, these activities require an interruption of library services.
Before the closure: 03 July – 02 August
Starting 03 July, items with the following location codes can no longer be borrowed:
- 1212 (Empirical Cultural Studies & European Ethnology)
- 1216 (Ethnology)
- 1408 (Center for Information and Language Processing)
- 1500 Open Stacks (Subject Library Englischer Garten)
- 1502 (Geschwister-Scholl Institute of Political Science)
Starting 28 July, the following holdings from the closed stacks will no longer be requestable:
- Monograph holdings (1500/M … including 1500/M A…, 1500/M G…, 1500/M K…)
- Computer Science dissertations (1500/DISS…)
- Journal holdings (1500/M Z…)
- Newspapers and press media collection (1506/…)
Important: Some materials are only available for use in the reading room. Items requested from the stacks before 28 July will still be made available for home lending or in-room consultation until 2 August.
Full closure: 04 August – 28 September
The Subject Library will be completely closed:
- No access to workspaces in the library.
- The collections are inaccessible: during the closure, neither open access nor closed stack materials can be borrowed or consulted.
- Returns are not possible. Due dates falling within the closure period will be automatically extended until the library reopens.
- Items from the Japanese Studies collection (1217), the Textbook Collection (1599), and loanable stack materials (1500/M …) may be borrowed before the closure and kept during the entire closure period.
