Short Bio

Leonie Zander is a researcher at the Chair of International Relations at the Geschwister Scholl Institute of Political Science at LMU Munich. She is currently pursuing a doctoral project under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Berthold Rittberger examining the emergence of supranational authority structures in the governance of dual use artificial intelligence in the European Union. Leonie Zander studied Political Science at LMU Munich and completed both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the Geschwister Scholl Institute. Alongside her academic work she has gained professional experience at the intersection of politics, science and technology policy. She worked at acatech, the German National Academy of Science and Engineering, where she contributed to analytical work supporting the Federal Chancellor’s Future Council on issues of technological sovereignty and innovation policy. At the AI startup SE3 Labs she worked in European Relations and Governmental Affairs, where she engaged with European defence consortia and collaborated with military and political stakeholders on European defence innovation initiatives.
