Vita

Marek Pršín joined the Geschwister-Scholl-Institute of Political Science in May 2020 as a research fellow at the Department of Comparative Political Systems (focus on East-Central Europe and Eurasia). His primary research focuses on the emergence and development of new political parties in East-Central Europe, with broader interests in party system change and regime dynamics and in the region. His dissertation project examines the factors underlying the success of the Czech Pirate Party from its foundation in 2009 to the parliamentary elections of 2025. He teaches courses on political systems, democracy in Central and Eastern Europe, and party politics.
