- Communication Science: Communication science is interested in the emergence and impact of media-mediated communication. The focus of research is therefore on mass communication through the mass media.
- Computer Science: Computer science is the science of the systematic processing of information with a focus on its automatic processing with the help of computer systems.
- Economics (Volkswirtschaftslehre): Economics studies the decision-making behaviour of individuals, but also of companies, organizations and governments.
- Economics (Wirtschaftswissenschaften): Economics teaches students the basic skills required for the independent scientific analysis of economic issues and the independent application of economic knowledge and skills in business and administration.
- Geography: Geography deals with the surface of the earth, with regions and landscapes, with population developments, with locations and with the material and spiritual environment of people.
- History: Historians attempt to research the past and thereby better understand the present. The central basis of historical scholarship is historical sources, i.e. any kind of representational, written, media and, in rare cases, oral tradition.
- Law: The aim of studying law as a minor subject is to impart legal knowledge in selected areas of law that can be put to practical use in a later career.
- Philosophy: Philosophy asks about things that are unquestioningly assumed in everyday life. Typical philosophical questions include under which conditions someone possesses knowledge, whether these conditions can be fulfilled at all and what justifies the claim to validity of moral prohibitions.
- Sociology: Sociology is about how people live together in society. Sociologists study human actions and behavior, the relationships between people and their social positions.
- Statistics: Statistics and data science are applied disciplines whose main task is to develop models and methods for data analysis. These lead to reliable findings in various areas of empirical research and enable forecasts to be made.
