Course Registration
General Information
To participate in courses, you must enroll in the respective course during course registration. Course registration takes place before the start of the term on LSF. Please log in with your LMU User ID to register for your courses. If you do not have an LMU User ID, please contact the IT Service Desk as soon as possible.
The deadlines for course registration can be found under Deadlines. Please note that course registration is a requisite for exam registration. Unexcused absence from the first session may result in the loss of your course place.
Course Registration Procedure
Course registration at the Geschwister-Scholl-Institut takes place in three phases.
- Main Enrollment Period: During the main enrollment period, please register for your courses via the tab "Register for courses". You can find in-depth instructions here. In modules with several options, you should prioritize as many courses as possible. The time of enrolment is irrelevant, all requests are treated equally.
- Place Allocation: Once the deadline of the main enrollment period has passed, places are allocated automatically. The course places are allocated depending on the number of semesters, the number of repetitions and potential overlaps. Once the place allocation has been completed, you can view your updated schedule with the course places allocated to you (status: admitted) on LSF.
- Late Enrollment Period: Once the place allocation has been completed, the late enrollment period starts. During the late enrollment period, you can register for courses with free spaces. Please register for your courses via the tab "Course catalogue". You can find in-depth instructions here. Course places are allocated on a first come, first serve basis. Your schedule will automatically be updated with all courses you have registered for.
Deregistration
During the course registration period, you can also deregister from individual courses via the "Course catalog" tab. If you are sure that you will not be attending a course, please deregister so that the places are available for your fellow students.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do I do if I have not been allocated a place on a course?
If you did not receive a course place during the main enrollment period or late enrollment period, please contact the study programme coordination.
I have not received a place on my desired course. What can I do?
You have two options. Firstly, you can deregister from the course you have been allocated and hope that a place in your desired course will become available during the late enrollment period. This is not guaranteed under any circumstances. Secondly, you can ask your fellow students to see if anyone is available to swap places. If you have found an exchange partner, please contact the study programme coordination.
Why do I have to prioritize some courses and not others?
You must prioritize courses if you have several options to choose from. This mainly applies to foundation courses, tutorials and seminars. Lectures and tutorials usually do not have to be prioritized.
I would like to register for a module from last semester. Why can't I find the course on LSF?
Most modules at the Geschwister-Scholl-Institute are offered on an annual basis, i.e. either only in the winter or summer term. If you cannot find a course on LSF, it will not be offered again until the following semester.
