Doctorate degree projects at the Geschwister Scholl Institute of Political Science are individually supervised. Application is made directly to the supervising university professor („Doktorvater“/„Doktormutter“) with whom the theme of the dissertation is to be coordinated.
With an appropriate research project one may apply for admission to the structured doctoral program of the Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies (Promotionsprogramm der Graduiertenschule für Ost- und Südosteuropastudien), a joint program of Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and Universität Regensburg which is supported by the German Federal Republic’s Excellence Initiative.
The Faculty of Social Sciences offers female doctoral candidates the mentoring-program Ment15.
