Statement on the War in Ukraine

LMU Munich's Geschwister-Scholl-Institute is shocked by the war on Ukraine – a sovereign, democratic, and independent state in Europe. We condemn the Russian aggression, which is in blatant contradiction to international law, in the strongest terms. Our thoughts are with the people of Ukraine.

As LMU Munich’s political science department, the Geschwister-Scholl-Institute embraces its responsibility as a democratic, liberal, and cosmopolitan institution. In both research and teaching, we strive to honor this responsibility and incorporate those values in our quest for a more peaceful and sustainable global order of states and societies.

Both LMU Munich and our department are home to researchers and students from Ukraine. To them we extend our sincere compassion and unrestricted solidarity.
